Atlanta's Hudson voted NL Pitcher of the Month

Over six starts in August, Hudson posted a 4-0 mark with a 1.71 earned run average. He struck out 35 batters while issuing just nine walks.

In his last start of the month on August 28, he fanned a career-high 13 batters to pick up the 1,500th strikeout of his career in a 12-3 win over Florida.

On the season, the righty is 15-5 with a 2.24 ERA over 27 starts. His ERA is tops in the National League.

It is the second monthly award over his 12 years in the majors and first since September of 2000 when he was with Oakland.

Other pitchers receiving votes were San Diego's Heath Bell and Mat Latos, Colorado's Rafael Betancourt, Arizona's Daniel Hudson, Philadelphia's Brad Lidge and Roy Oswalt, Los Angeles' Ted Lilly and Houston's Wandy Rodriguez.

It’s important to know how to forecast these unforeseen events and how to use them to your advantage. Instead of turnovers hurting you at the wrong times, find ways to use them to your advantage.
